Help! Need breakfast quiche/casserole for party this Sat

by Linda C » Thu Dec 04, 2008 2:15 pm

We have an office party of 18 for dinner and sleep over at a B&B in Madison. We have decided to do a little more substantial breakfast than Continental. (They don't provide breakfast here, but we can use the kitchen to reheat) Anyone have a suggestion?

I'd make something you don't have to reheat. And for me, quiche is nearly always better a day after it's baked and taken to room temp. My favorites generally run to leeks and gruyere. Or even a custard/buttermilk tart is always great for breakfast.

Linda,
How about Creme Brulee French Toast?
This is one of my family's favorite recipes from all recipes.com. We make it every year at Christmas and anytime we have special visitors.

Linda,

I think I remember Deb Hall providing a breakfast casserole recipe quite awhile ago. I believe it was in response to one of my posts, but now I don't even remember what my request was about....possibly Derby brunch ideas?? I've searched through the forum, but I can't find it. It sounded wonderful at the time. Maybe Deb will remember what I'm referring to. In the meantime, what's that herbal supplement that's supposed to improve memory??? Joking.

I have lots of recipes, I don't want to cook! We will be up late the night before and need something to pop in the oven. I just wondered if anyone sold these around here besides the frozen ones at party places.

We make quiches at Sweet Surrender for our lunch menu. They have a slightly sweet crust but we usually do savory fillings such as goat cheese and sundried tomatoes. O moshrooms and brie. However, we'd be happy to do some for you. They might be a tiny bit larger than what you're wanting though. (You can see a picture of one at the bottom of the lunch menu page on our website here: http://www.sweetsurrenderdessertcafe.com/lunch_menu.htm). We could easily do a more breakfast-type filling for you. We will even take requests. However, we are a vegetarian and dairy Kosher establishment, so no meat. What is the date of the event? You can PM me if you're interested.

The Cheddar Box restaurant in Middletown (near Paul's) sells a variety of quiches that are ready to be put in the oven and baked! I personally prefer them hot for breakfast and cold for other meals. I believe they're about $10.00 each.

Leann,

I think I need some of that herbal memory supplement too....But I do remember that post. I think what you are thinking of was my Hot Brown Quiche, which I posted when Eliza was looking for a recipe for after her baby's baptism. (See- there was a Derby reference in there  ). I'll see if I can find it.

Kingsley's at Taylorville Road/Bowman Field sells wonderful looking quiches that you'd pop into the oven.
