Tacos Toreados in Lyndon!

by Mary Anne » Thu Nov 27, 2008 3:39 pm

Watch what you wish for, because miracles can come true. Oh sure, I don't complain as much as say, Robin, about driving all the way down Hurstbourne to get to the Gordita Trailer, but it's a haul, at least 20-25 minutes for me and all those freaking lights make it awful... Today on my way home from the familial Thanksgiving dinner I found a taqueria trailer in my hood! In front of Choi's market, on Lyndon Lane, across from Donut Castle, has set up a little trailer they are calling Tacos Toreados. I of course zipped in, wheels squealing like Mannix, probably scaring the crap out of them. The trailer itself is badged with Taqueria Mi Rancho in big letters, but they apparently haven't gotten around to putting their name on it yet. They have the bones of a website set up http://www.tacostoreados.com/. All the things I love, including elotes en vaso, which I had to try immediately, even though I am totally stuffed from Tday dinner. Corn is sort of like dessert, isn't it? Good good elotes, lots of heat and cheese. Tacos made with all the usual meats, asada, adobada, barbaco, leguna. Tacos are $1.50, tortas are $5.00, quesadillas are $3.50. They have been open only a week. Open from 6pm till midnight every day except closed on Monday. And OPEN TONIGHT folks if you want to try them out on Thanksgiving evening. Nice friendly folks with a good grasp of english, thankfully, as my spanish is poor. I am soooo tickled I have a place like this so close to home. Now if I can just get DakShin to open a place across the street...

Great work, Mary Anne! We were driving right by there yesterday (stopped to get gas at Thornton's on a drive from Hurstbourne over to Holiday Manor via Lyndon Lane), and Mary say what looked like a taco trailer as we spun out of the gas station. No time to stop, but thanks for verifying her sighting. :)

No chance we'll get over there tonight, but it goes high up on my radar. Maybe we could gather up a group to go there with a Spanish dictionary for the weekend? :)

Did you happen to catch their hours? Open for lunch or only dinner?

Woohoo, offline at the Taco Trailer! Mary has a sharp eye! They said their hours were 6-midnight, but there they were today at 2 pm...I'd love to go there hungry and try everything, just pick a day. No tables to eat at though, just a few stools sitting in front of the trailer. And I didn't ask about beverages, so I'm not sure, but hopefully they have Mexican Coke and Jarritos.

The wife and I tried Tacos Toreados last night and had no complaints. The elotes, chicken quesadilla, and chorizo taco were all fantastic.

One more picture. I had to show the kitchen/trailer and personal service from Juan.
