Ramen Noodles

by John Hagan » Fri Nov 21, 2008 11:06 am

After watching one of my favorite flicks ,Tampopo, I find myself looking for a great bowl of ramen. I am open to pretty much any style. I looked at the menu at Maido and all I see is udon or soba noodles. Any thought on where one can find any.

Last time I was at Shah's Mongolian Grill, they had them on the bar.

And they are also in the oriental asile at Kroger......keep a stash of them for end of pay period dining (translation, cheap eats)

I know I can find the bagged stuff all over, value market carries a pretty good selection. I was thinking more of a "good" bowl of ramen. Looking for the nice big bowl of fresh made noodles with a well balanced broth and maybe some thin slices of beef or pork thrown on top.

Tokyo on Lime Kiln has them on the menu. My 13 y/o son loves them.

I believe they don't open until 5 PM. I've only had their Pad Thai. It was interesting.

Pink Door used to do a nice job with their ramen, but to me the quality of their food seems to have gone downhill as the nightclub side of the business grew in popularity. I wouldn't bother with their noodles. You'd be just as well off doctoring up a pack of the cheap stuff from Kroger with some fresh veggies, cilantro and Sriracha.

You got it....kind of a bummer, but my fault for not looking at the hours on the website. There has to be than just Toyko and PinkDoor that serves ramen right?
