To all my friends and customers . . . It is with a very heavy heart that I am making this post to the forum. Melillo's has taken the hit from the economy, food costs, taxes, etc. and there is no one out there to bail us out, unfortunately. We will be closing our doors at the end of the year. Our regular business hours will remain through November and during the month of December we will be open for dinner only on Friday and Saturday evenings. We have a lot of Holiday party obligations that we will be fulfilling and still have openings in December for more parties if you know anyone looking for a cozy place to host an event. From deep in my heart I want to thank all of you who came through our doors during the past eight yearts. We have made some beautiful friendships and appreciate all of your kind words and support.

This saddens me to no end. You all have done a wonderful job and are always on my short list to send people to when looking for a great meal. I am so sorry to hear you will be closing. I will definitely be in soon for lunch. Thanks for all of the time, energy, and effort you put into to such a wonderful little spot. You will be missed!

I'm really sorry to hear this....I was worried at just the title of your post. Thank you for always welcoming my family to your restaurant. I will sorely miss the Chicken Parm.

Oh, noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
This is terribly sad news, Michele. The departure of Melillo's will leave a hole in the city's landscape and a hole in its heart.
I guess there's no chance of your changing this decision even if you get huge crowds from now to year's end?
I'm just sick! We even have Melillo's wall treatment in our bedroom! (Mary talked to Ashley and got all the details for replicating it ... )

Why isn't DC bailing out people like Melillo and me? If this needs to be taken to another thread, do it. I just hate seeing bigwigs flying to DC in private jets asking for a bailout when we have people like me losing jobs and great local businesses closing down every frikkin week.
