We have been working our way closer to Seaside for years. Until last year, we stayed at Grayton - across from D&Ks. GBDuplex East. One of the best deals in Grayton.
We found a place in Seaside - not managed by Seaside - which means it's half the price. While we're down there, we're going to roam around Seagrove and take note of places that are within easy walking distance. But these people have been so nice to us that we may have to splurge each year and stay there. It's more than we ever pay for anything but there's something about starting your day on a porch at Seaside, walking to the Town Centre, riding your bikes all around there and Water Color. Love the Friday nights watching the movies outside in the grass. Kids playing. Picnics, bottles of wine. Having a place with a 3rd or 4th floor tower, looking out over Seaside and the gulf.
We'll have to try Angelina's. When we're there next summer, we'll have more time to do that OR winter time, when things are closed, it will narrow our search for different restaurants.
I worked at KFC R&D years ago. There was a guy with an unusual last name, who went on to another chicken chain, out of state. He loved beaches and playing in bands.
Heading toward Seaside a couple of years, I noticed a guy with the same name playing in the band at Seaside's church. Rode our bikes over before church service and there was Don. He is R&D and Purchasing for a chicken company whose hdqs are located over Rendezvous in 'downtown' Seaside! The owner is the minister of the church! Since then, another former colleague began working with him and runs the new Lee's Famous Recipe Restaurant/Test Kitchen toward Santa Rosa. Can you image going to work at Seaside Florida.
Our place sleeps 6. We'll be lucky to get our older daughter and son-in-law down there for 3 days for NYE. We might have to hook up if no one joins us!
We will have to get together for lunch and talk about our Scenic 30A experiences. My company has the nicest gourmet lunch buffet. 2 salads, soup, sandwich, breads, 2 entrees, 2 sides, desserts, beverage, and 1 alcoholic beverage for $11. Includes tax and tip - actually no tipping. Lite lunch $8 doesn't include the entree, sides portions. Let me know.
I'm going to have to watch the Truman Show pretty soon.
