Restaurant Suggestions

by Jenny H » Tue Nov 11, 2008 11:42 am

I have a couple of friends coming in town Saturday and they want to eat somewhere either near Jefferson Mall or near Southern Seminary's campus if you know where that is. Do you all have any suggestions? I don't get those directions a whole lot so I could use some help. They are not too adventurous as far as ethnic foods. It is for lunch and there are 3 women total. Thanks!!!

Tuscany is not a bad option on the Outer Loop. Safe Italian food.

I'd definitely recommend Cafe Lou Lou but I think maybe Havana Rumba maybe a little too ethnic based on what you said. There's also Brennan's in St. Matthew's that has a nice pub atmosphere with pretty good food.

Good quality seafood at Sharom's, Outer Loop at Old Shepherdsville Road. It's about a mile or two from Jefferson Mall.

Go west of the seminary campus about a mile or so and try KT's or August Moon...

If you go to El Nopal on Outer Loop, you can get certs. from Dining with Steve - great deal - 2/$15
certs. for $17 - check us out! (Yes, I'm the restaurant scout for the show :) )
But I really like the food, too!

I agree that Havana Rumba and August Moon may be too adventurous for them (although they are delicious!. I second KT's and would also suggest The Fishery or Stan's on Lexington. Carolina Shrimp, Bluegrass Brewing, and Kayrouz Cafe are also nearby. Oh, and Blue Dog Bakery on Frankfort.

That might be perfect both for the location close to the seminary and for their less adventurous taste buds. Good call!

ND, you might want to throttle down the advertising just a tad ... we kind of have a cultural bias against going overboard with that around here ...

I suggest Ole Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que at 6106 Shepherdsville Road, 502-968-0585, they have great smoked chicken, ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, green beans, baked beans, banana pudding....need I go on? And it is only a mile or two from Jefferson Mall. Let us know where they end up going.

I second this one. The mutton is some of the best I've had in town. Try the deep fried corn on the cob too.
