Zaytun Mediterranean Grill Grand Opening Today

by MichelleJ » Tue Nov 11, 2008 11:29 am

Zaytun Mediterranean Grill (where Andrew's Home Cooking used to be) is having their grand opening today (November 11). They're giving away free hummus to celebrate. The menu looks like pretty standard Mediterranean stuff (falafel, a couple kinds of hummus, gyros) with some Americanized things thrown in (onion rings, cajun fries). I'm happy to have a new spot in the neighborhood so I'm planning to give it a try soon.

Zaytun's is supposed to be connected by family to Sharom's on Outer Loop, which gets very good reviews. Should be well worth checking out!

Wow - the Loop is getting some great new additions.

By that I mean Douglass Loop (not Outer Loop).

I think the free humus was original planned for opening day only, but he's doing it all week as well as $2 Coronas. Good food, hip vibe, appropriate lighting, contemporary American music, open late on the weekends. I have professional association with the place, so obviously I would not say something neg., but then again if I didn't like it, I wouldn't say anything at all.

I have not tried this place (kind of off the beaten path for me), however, yesterday someone that I see at Grape Leaf and Meridian Cafe all the time came over to my table to tell me that she and her husband had tried it, and they really liked it. The lady said she thinks they have the best falafel she has ever tried, and she said her husband got a chicken gyro that was really good.
