Taco Bueno - opening soon

by Ann D » Tue Nov 04, 2008 2:23 pm

I was driving past the Home Depot on Hurstbourne Lane (near Taylorsville Rd) and noticed a sign for Taco Beuno. It is being constructed in the corner of the Home Depot parking lot. The Taco Bueno website says it should be open in December.

I know Taco Bueno has gotten a bad wrap on here before, but we really enjoy the one in Jeffersonville. 10th street across from Kmart near the Allison Lane/10th intersection (thats for you Brian  ) IMO it's better than Taco Bell, but not as good and Qudoba.

Thanks DeeDee  , I too noticed the new building, I live near the area. I thought it was going to be a Taco Bell by the way the building looked. I know there is another Taco Bell right around the corner on Taylorsville Rd but I thought maybe they were going to trash that one and go with a new building with better location.

Will be nice to try something new though.

Then I'll pass. I detest Taco Bell and consider Qudoba vastly over-rated.

Been to the one in Jeff here more than a few times, couple of observations:

The ground beef has NO seasoning in it; be precise to the counter person when ordering on exactly what you want and don't want (both) since the staff is, well, indifferent shall we say; and lastly, they are extremely thrifty (IMHO) with the shredded cheese.

Thrifty is a good way to put it, they are skimpy on the cheese. We went through the drive through one night and ordered 2 of the same item. Well they forgot one, so I went in the store and told them it was left out of the order and when we got home, the item I had to go back for was double the size of the first one! It was packed w/ cheese and toppings! Things that make ya go hum!

That explains it. This was so much easier coming here...found what I was looking for in under a minute when I just spent 30 minutes at least on LOJIC to see if they had any permits I could decipher for that parcel.

My husband had coworker tell him that Home Depot was moving their tool rental out there...I said they wouldn't be putting it in a mexican styled building with a drive thru.

They wouldn't have trashed the Taco Bell over there because they're, right now, remodeling.

Why go to any of these places when the Ville and even over on the Sunny side has all sorts of great taquerias?
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

I prefer to call the place "Taco not so Bueno"...

I've been to the location over in Jeffersonville a couple of times and have found most offerings pretty bland and not much better than the Bell...(If you can use that as a comparison!)

With the exception of the Bean Burrito..It was quite tasty!

I reviewed it and would have to say that it's bland yet quite a bit better than the Bell. But as I also wrote, when you drive over to Jeff to get there, you have to pass about four really authentic taquerias to get to it, and why in the hell would you want to do that?

I am thrilled to have Taco Bueno available in Kentucky. I've been going through withdrawals since I left Dallas!
Try their muchacos and you'll be hooked.
