The Oakroom

Dear Fellow Louisvillians,

It's been a while since any of us from The Oakroom have offered insight into our reemergence.
First, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ashley McClane, and I am the restaurant director and sommelier for The Oakroom. I have been a sommelier for over ten years, and moved to Louisville from Dallas to step into the sommelier role at the Seelbach. Shortly thereafter, I then became the restaurant director. I am a certified sommelier, as well as a certified specialist of wine. Wine is definitely my passion, and I feel very honored to be the cellarmaster for such an amazing collection.
As you all know, we have been through some transition as of late. The Oakroom has a reputation for impeccable service, cuisine, and ambiance. We are honored to carry on these exceptional traditions. For years, we have catapulted many great Chefs into success. And for that, we are proud. Our new Chef De Cuisine, Nicole Walker, has brought forth many exciting new things to the table and is poised to continue this fine tradition.
I am very excited about our new direction. The new menu will make even the most adventurous palate sing, yet remains approachable not to intimidate the novice. Our menu is now offering a la carte selections which allows the guest to choose, rather than limiting them to prix fixe only, which we have done in the past. We have increased our portions, while maintaining the standards we have become synonymous with, by sourcing the best products, whether domestically or internationally.
I have also made many changes to the wine program at The Oakroom. I am a firm believer that even the finest restaurants should offer more pocketbook friendly wines. So now I am proudly offering many fantastic wines from $35. We try to span the globe, geographically as well as economically, offering more wines by the glass, starting at $9 per glass, and going up to $35 per glass.
I hope to meet more of our local patrons soon, perhaps at the Scotch dinner on November 19th. Check our website for full details.
Cheers,
Ashley McClane
