Halloween

by AshleyChesman » Fri Oct 24, 2008 10:47 am

Ok, right now we're open for Halloween, which is a Friday night. But, I have had so many people tell me I'm crazy, I wanted to know what everyone on here thinks. Are you planning on eating out that Friday night or are you hosting or attending a party?

Thanks!

Well thanks to the infinite wisdom of our mayor *rolls eyes* Halloween is on a Thursday this year in Jeffersonville.

Hi Ashley,
Come Back Inn (Louisville) will be closed on Halloween. I hate to do it because it is a Friday night, but unfortunately the sales are not there to justify being open - at least they haven't been in the past. In addition, nearly every one of my staff members have young children and want the night off to take them out in their costumes. Regards, Gena

I hate going out on Halloween! I'll be staying in and handing out candy. Driving out there makes me nervous with all the kiddies running around.

We enjoy seeiing the kiddies come thru. I'm not so thrilled with the teenagers and adults who trick or treat, though. that's anoher story. But we wouldn't plan on eating out that night.

As per usual, I'll be partying on HIllcrest with my aunts, uncles, and cousins, so we will most definitely NOT be dining out. It'll be a Hell of a good time!

It's a toss-up for us. Our only child relatives are my sister's family in Florida, so we have no reason to party. On the other hand, we get a fair number of trick-or-treaters in our Crescent Hill neighborhood, and it's kind of nice to put out a jack-o-lantern and have some tricks (er, treats) waiting to serve them.

I'd call it 60 percent we stay home, 40 percent we go out ... and I'm thinking that restaurants on the city strips, Frankfort and Bardstown, will feel the Halloween pinch a lot less than suburban eateries do.

Both properties, Wes? This would be a very interesting test of my urban/suburban Halloween hypothesis if one's slammed and the other just does a healthy but more average business.

Yes both are open. We only close Xmas and Thanksgiving.

I'll let you know how sales are based on past trends to see the difference.

Anthony Lamas might have some input from his 2 locations also.

Sweet Surrender will be closed, despite it being the Frankfort Avenue Trolley Hop. In past years we've determined that Halloween is more about candy than it is about baked goods.

I swear I posted this earlier at work- there must be a forum gremlin lurking somewhere. Or I hit the wrong button.

Halloween is the last night of our Kids under 12 eat free special at Seviche Goose Creek. So come get a bite after trick or treating. We are even giving out goodie bags so the kids will get even more candy. :D
