Who has the best lentil soup in Louisville? I love it and could only find it at Grape Leaf today...while it is very good there...I like trying different places.

I'll try to remember to post next time we have our Red Lentil Soup at Cafe Lou Lou. It must be good - we have a list of folks that we have to phone every time we make it (and save them a bowl to carry out). It's completely vegetarian (no chicken stock).

They serve lentil soup at Gavi's at 222 S. 7th Street downtown about once a week. I don't care for it myself, so I don't pay any attention to which day it is served. You could give them a call at 583-8183 between 7 AM and 3 PM, M-F.

Good news, lentil lovers - we are well-supplied with our vegetarian red lentil soup at least for today! Come on in and enjoy some!

Hey, Masha! Speaking of good news, when is the Loop location going to open? My DH and I walked down there during last week's beautiful weather hoping to get lunch, but we were out of luck. He LOVES lentils and it will be awesome when we can walk down there on a chilly night and warm up with some lentil soup!

Lentil soup or dal?

We went to Sage recently, but I was a little disappointed. Similar to its predecessor, Royal India, but they've taken the Southern Indian dishes off the menu, and we didn't feel the cooking was quite as good as Royal India. It was okay, but not my favorite.

When they have it, City Cafe Baxter has good lentil soup, as does Bistro 301.

I've been to the fairly new India Palace outlet on L&C Pkwy (Hwy 131) in Clarksville a couple of times. They have a lentil soup on their buffet that'll warm your innards in the fall / winter weather.
