Slice of New York Pizza?

by Mark R. » Fri Oct 17, 2008 8:41 am

Anyone know what's going on with them? My wife and I stopped by yesterday at dinnertime to get a pie and there was a sign in the door that said "temporarily closed" all the chairs were up on the tables and there was no sign of life.

Oh, man! That was this week's LEO review (which I haven't posted yet).

Hey Robin -------> Please do not review/plan a story on Impellizzeri's, Wick's, Danny Mac's, Windy City, or any of my other pizza places anytime soon. If you do, tell me first so I can pick up one last pizza.

Thanks in advance!

I just tried calling them and their answering machine said the following:
"Due to family reasons we're temporarily closed until further notice." It certainly doesn't sound good.

Robin, maybe you should think about reviewing from chain restaurants for a while. You certainly don't need to jinx anymore of the locals, especially pizza joints!

Wow, I was checking in to get the address and show the review to my husband. Darn.

Since it's run by one family I'm going to just hope that its just a family thing and they'll be back shortly. I love this pizza. I can't go without it.

Man I never got to try the Baked Ziti pizza.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

Did you get more information regarding their status? The last I heard they were temporarily closed for a family emergency (on their answering machine) and their website was still up and running. If they truly are closed permanently we'll have lost the two best NY style pizza places in town in just one month. Truly sad for the local restaurants community. The problem could have partially been they were so close together although I'm sure the economy didn't help any.

Robin should start reviewing "imaginary" restaurants, along the lines of "restaurants I'd like to see in Louisville." Such an approach would not negatively impact local establishments (as the reviews are make believe) but it could generate ideas on which to build new establishments.

Ummm, somehow I don't see the editors going for this one.

Or it could just start reviewing a lot of chain restaurants. That would help even up the playing field by reducing their numbers! Sorry Robin.......It was too easy.
