If you search on google you find many options to buy on the net and don't have to leave your house!

(not sure about local)

I'm not sure about local either, Brian, and I shop online too. Still, with heavy economic times possibly ahead, I intend to buy locally as much as I can, and I encourage everyone who cares about our distinctive local identity to do the same.

I needed this ingredient for a recipe (sweet and sour cabbage soup) I was planning on making within the next couple of days, so was hoping to find it locally.

Melissa:

"Sour salt" is just a fancy name for citric acid crystals (often used in canning and candy-making). Try calling around and asking for it where candy-making supplies are sold, only ask for it as "citric acid crystals". It's the stuff that coats the outside of Sour Patch Kids, f'rinstance.

Indian grocery stores usually carry them.

pretty sure Shalimar on Hurstbourne does.

and yes, these days usually known by it's "proper" name of Citric Acid.

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.
