Road to Morocco

DH and I ate there Saturday night after making a delivery to the Henry Clay. We shared a platter that included feta, hummus, babaganous, olives, marinated shrimp and warm pita triangles. It was very good, fresh flavors, slightly different spicing from Safier or Shiraz. But then, this is Moroccan after all. Spanokopita was flaky and served with herbed sour cream if I remember correctly. The iced tea was light and minty - quite refreshing and again just a bit out of the ordinary. A light supper, and thoroughly delightful.

Given the way things have been going lately, I was afraid that this was going to be a post about Road to Morocco closing! I'm relieved to see that that's not the case. I had lunch there once last year right before I quit my downtown job and really enjoyed it, but I haven't been back since, largely because I don't spend much time downtown anymore. I really should make an effort to get back there though; the food was good and the service was very friendly. I really hope they make it.

They also have a nice selection of wines and some interesting gift-type items. (and it's owned and operated by one of my neighbors, so go often!).

I attended a seminar in the Henry Clay last year and afterward enjoyed a fully satisfying lunch at Road to Morocco. I dined on the Marrakech sampler which included hummus, babagnooj, shrimp and olives. I also had a gryos sandwich. I topped it off with some freshly brewed tea and I sure didn't want to go back to work after that filling meal. They also have a great assortment of wares for sale. I obtained a really cool incense burner and some great Egyptian incense after I was done gorging on my awesome meal.

Here is a link to their website which includes a link to their menu. Be aware that the menu is a 68MB pdf file that may take a little while to load.
