Thats seems odd, I would have thought they did a lot of business there. That is sad.

Big Boy Closed....

I don't dine there often, but when I did there was always a good amount of people there. I know the competition is fierce in the general area. Perhaps they just weren't as up to snuff as the other guys, be they chains or indies. Oh well, if ya are taking care of the customers, they will come back.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

My wife and I stopped in there about a month ago on a Monday evening after looking at real estate in the area. I noticed right away that the place seemed way understaffed, and the people they had working were pretty unentusiastic about being there. For starters, there were about 10 or 11 unbussed tables in our section alone. At the time there were about maybe 20 patrons in the whole restaurant. It took about 5 minutes for a "server" to acknowledge our presence. With my Spidey Senses tingliling that some thing was amiss, I asked my wife if she wanted to leave. She just wanted to wait it out and I reluctantly agreed. After placing our orders, I went to the restroom. After seeing the sorry state of affairs in there, I should have left on the spot. I also peeked into the pass to the dish station where there was a mound of dirty dishes that in my opinon, looked to have been neglegted for the better part of the day. Returning to my seat with little hope for a good Big Boy, I was not surprised to fing a big chunk o' burnt up grill funk smashed in to my burger. I was gearing up my speech for whomever the manager might have been but didn't think it would be worth my effort because half of the staff were out front smoking during most of our visit. With all the new development in the area, I think that the available labor pool of people willing to work at an establishment like Frisch's has dwindled considerably. Most of the better help in the area is probably working elsewhere. In my opinion that is what might have led to that locations demise.

Dixie Big Boy

I have been to the one on Dixie Hwy several times (my parents love to stop there on the way to Ft. Knox), and have always had great service and good food. Hopefully, they won't transfer anyone from the one that closed to that one!
