Baked Sweet Potatoes

by Amy Gingerich » Thu Sep 18, 2008 12:59 pm

Hi All! I work downtown love baked sweet potatoes. Red Star Tavern on Fourth St. used to have baked sweet potatoes on their menu, but they don't anymore and I'm really missing them. Do you know of any other restaurant downtown that servers this as a side?

Hi, Amy, and welcome to the forum!

As I told you in Email, it may be that Red Star just took this off the menu for summer and will bring it back later, a hearty side for cooler weather.

If there's another place to get 'em downtown, though, I'll bet somebody on the forum will be able to point you to it!

Dillon's used to serve a really good baked sweet potato, but sadly they are no more. I'm not sure about where to get one these days, but the Kentucky Barbecue Company has delicious Sweet Potato fries.

Not downtown, but I know sweet potatoes show up on the current Ramsi's menu.

Not sure exactly what the entree was that was accompanied by the potato(Ribs maybe?), but I commented on them to my girlfriend, as she's a sweet potato fan herself.

And it's a chain, but I know Tumbleweed does Baked Sweet Potatoes. I can't speak for the quality, but they were no fun to serve. Too much prep, as compared to a standard baked potato.

I think The Pub has them on their menu and they're right next door to Star.

Texas Roadhouse has "Baked Sweets" as well as Logan's Steakhouse as part of the regular menu....

Both are located very close to each other on the "Sunnyside" and are just a hop, skip and a jump from Downtown for lunch!

Cravings Cafeteria, in the basement of the National City Tower, has baked sweet potatoes on the line. The Pub has sweet potato fries.
