How do you pronounce Sunergos?

by Jackie R. » Fri Sep 12, 2008 6:33 pm

Well??? My take is: Sue nair goes. Eh? I've heard people pronounce it: Sun jer ohs. Not very phonetic. Really the question: how does the "g" sound" and the syllabic flow (did I just make that up?)?

At any rate, the coffee is darn good. Presently possessing the Tazmanian Peaberry - very smooth.

It would be best to ask the guys, but it may help to know that it's based on the Greek word for "synergy," so "sun-air-goes" might come close. I expect they don't mind how you say it as long as you order some! :D

I would follow that great suggestion, but my phone ran away tonight. She'll find her way home tomorrow and I'll have the answer then. Brilliant suggestion, but I also thought the topic may be "food" for thought.

...there is a phonetic spelling tab as well as an audio player that says the word

Wish I had the software to support that, but alas it won't allow. Can you type it like it sounds, it the most creative way?

Okay, I got it to play (Real Player), but it's being pronounced in classic Greek. The coffee shop peeps may very well not pronounce it that way.

To me, though, the Greek word sounds like "Soon-ehr-GAWSS"

That would be correct, so says my girlfriend. She's a pretty consistent regular there. Although she pronounces it with a little more accent on the first syllable, so "SOON-er-goss" would be my best phonetic approximation.
