Costa Rica dinner w/wine @ Goose Creek Seviche

by Robin Garr » Fri Sep 12, 2008 5:21 pm

The earlier outings in this culinary tour of Latino America have been outstanding, or so I've heard, and this bill of fare looks mighty good, too.

Costa Rica Wine Dinner @ Seviche – Goose Creek Road
Wednesday, Sept. 24
7 p.m.
$55 per person (plus tax & gratuity)

Chef Anthony Lamas will be offering his fourth wine dinner of a very special series inspired by the culinary traditions of the 27 different Latin American Countries. Each of these dinners will focus on a different Country and will be paired with unique wines from around the world.

The Sept. 24 dinner will highlight the traditions of Costa Rica, and David DuBou of Vintner Select will be the wine guide for the evening.

Menu:
Reception:
Palazzone 2006 "Dubini" Bianco, Umbria

Dinner:
“Costa Rican Style" Seviche - with Shrimp, Heart of Palm, Cucumber, Parsley, and Pico de Gallo
Edmunds St. John 2006 "Bone-Jolly - Witter's Vineyard" Gamay rose, El Dorado

“Casado Con Pollo” – Lemon-Oregano rubbed Organic Chicken with Rice, Fried Plantains, and Black Bean Puree
San Pietro 2006 Schiava, Alto Adige, Italy

“Gallo Pinto” – Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Pinto Beans and Rice
and Roasted Onions-Tomato Picante
Bodegas Thomas Cuisine 2005 'Vilosell", Costers del Segre, Spain
(Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Garnacha & Syrah)

“Arroz Con Leche” – Traditional Costa Rican Roce Pudding with Cinnamon-Nutmeg & Coffee Glaze
Apex 2003 Late Harvest Semillon, Columbia Valley

I made my reservation at the end of the Peruvian dinner. I haven't missed one yet. My goal is to make it to all 27(?). I think these are some of the most fun dinners that I have been to yet in Louisville.

Of course there was that beer dinner at Cafe Lou Lou. Awesome, and I don't usually drink beer. Clay said something that evening about more dinners to come, but I haven't heard about any and am axiously awaiting news.
