Mice at Red Star on 4th st.

by Solomon Gayman » Tue Sep 02, 2008 11:25 pm

Has anyone eslse seen mice at Red Star on 4th st. ? We at lunch a week ago and right when our food came out a friend turned and pointed right to a large cute mouse on the floor. We asked to move tables and they were slow about that and did not even offer to comp. our bill. I must say on their behalf that the room was well decorated and my chicken tenders were delicious.

I've never been to Red Star, so I have missed the opportunity to the mice and decide whether they are cute or not. But a friend of mine was biten by a rat while eating at Le Relais earlier this summer. She had to endure rabies shots.

They don't eat much and they are cute.

If you had moved tables, wouldn't he have followed you?

This sounds like it could be a very serious matter. I'm surprised we didn't hear more about it when it happened, I'm sure the health department was involved in several aspects of this problem. One was Le Relais response to your friends incident?

Mice is plural. Sounds like a single. Cute as it sounds, I question this subject.

The health inspectors are doing a hell of a job.

My wife had the same problem @ Carly rae's last year. She informed the server/manager about the mice, & was told "yeah were work on it"!

Was she outside on the deck or in the dining room? Yikes!

Mark, my friend was out of the deck. It seem that there was also a garbage container on the deck, which I suppose was what attracted the rat. (According to her it was a multi-colored specimen that gave hint to being an escaped pet.) Anyway, it bit her foot. Needless to say, she is not keen on returning.

Just remember, a health department inspection and a mouse appearance are hard to get to coincide. Chances are good it was an isolated incident, or a recent development the managers are working hard to get resolved. We once had a cute little mouse run right in the front door. Of course, we immediately ushered it back out as soon as the first guest at table 2 let out a yelp. Good thing for us the Health Department didn't come in behind that little visitor! But it was an isolated incident and did not point to an existing infestation or other problem.

Gayle's story, however, has me rather horrified...

The poor little fella was just tired of spending all his time outdoors and wanted to have a little air conditioning....

I'm surprised more of this hasn't happened with the "Open Air Environment" that is our own 4th Street Live...And coming soon to a vacant lot near you downtown .... Central City!.....
