Royal Indian Restaurant off Shelbyville road might be closed

by Chris Hutton » Sun Aug 24, 2008 1:03 pm

I hope not but it looks like they may be closed down.

It was a little Indian place that I loved to go to for a quick lunch.

It was in the same little strip of business that Havana Rumba is.

There is a work stopage sign on their door today.

Also a closed sign and another instructing customers to go to Kashmir.

It was pretty slow in there as last couple times I had been in.

But for 10 bucks a head(that's with tip included, not sure of price think it was 7); it was my favorite lunch spot.

The food was always good and fresh and there was usually some type of Indian food I had not tried before.

I hope today is just a set back and they are reopen real soon.

If they are; and you like Indian food.

You should check it out.

I have heard that are permanently closed. I was really sad to hear that.
Had a meal there and it was not bad at all, I just think the location was not good for them.

I have also heard, from a very trusted source, that they are morphing into an entirely differnt cuisine. No more Indian, but should still be a restaurant. That little corner is turning into quite a restaurant row. LouLou, Equus, Havana Rumba, DelFriscos, Meridian around the corner . . .

Also, we've been eating a lot at Sitar. And I mean a lot. Love the buffet.

I am sorry to hear that it closed. Their food was pretty darn good.

Pretty sure the buffet is open every day for lunch. The items on it change, if not daily, pretty darn often. There's always a wide selection - much, much more extensive than Kashmir's buffet. Like 2.5 times as many options.
