Cast Iron Chef competition

by Mark R. » Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:59 pm

Just wanted to let everyone know that Harold Baker from the Westport General Store one the Cast Iron Chef competition today at the state fair. We didn't make it in time to watch the competition but we saw the cooking demonstration he did later in the afternoon. During the demonstration he did a wonderful job despite having to contend with a cooktop that didn't get hot enough to brown his rouge nor boil his sauce. Of course any of us who have visited his place of employment know he has excellent skills!

Congrats to Chef Harold! Which reminds me, it's getting to be about time to make that short trip out to Westport!

Thanks Mark for mentioning this. We had a blast out there yesterday. It is a very fun event. Chef Harold always brings his game face which is fun to watch. Come out this weekend to sample the winning recipe. Blackened Steak with a curry cream sauce accompanied by "watermelon pie" -watermelon triangles topped with a confetti of squash zucchini and cucumber.
