Wall Street Cafe in Jeffersonville

by MarieP » Fri Aug 15, 2008 11:51 am

Does anyone know about this place? Does it serve breakfast on Saturdays? The other options I found (looking for spots within walking distance of Colston Park) are Adrienne's, Jeff's, and Perkfection. Any other suggestions are appreciated!

By the way...I am learning that Google Street View is my new best technological friend :D

We tried out J Train pizza a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it was pretty good, although my wife didn't like the funny pizza with the folded-over crust as much as I did.

Used to ride bikes from Louisville to Jeff and then have breakfast at wall street.

Neat little place with decent food. Check it out!

We had lunch over there a couple of weeks ago. I don't think they opened just for us. ;)

Maybe they changed their schedule, though?

Actually, my plans changed, but hopefully I will get to try it sometime! Thanks anyway.

I (unfortunately) live in Jeffersonville and can say the quality and availablity of food has declined recently. I haven't been to J-Train or Wall Street, but some of the other options have gotten really bad. Perkfection seems to be cutting corners wherever possible. I got so much rotting vegetable matter on my salads and wraps that I quit going there. Come Back Inn is OK, but VERY greasy. Adrienne's does great cakes and decent sandwiches. Schimpff's confectionery has a nice lunch counter. Ann's on the River is some of the worst food I've ever left on the plate but paid for. Unless you live over here, I'd stay in Louisville. If you do live in S. Indiana, MOVE.

Wow...That's a pretty bold statement....

I hate it when people say there is nothing good to eat in Indiucky

Not everything is bad on the Sunny Side...However, I say this in kindness, service may be spotty at most of the places I mention...But these are all Good Eats!

Once again... I'll put out my top 10 for dining "Over There"

10. The Onion (New Albany... sort of across from the Meier's on Charlestown Rd.)

9. Mai Thai (Jeffersonville..on 10th St tucked away in a strip mall in Youngstown Plaza)

8.Charlestown Pizza Co. (I've not been there yet, but from the reports from friends that reside over there, they say it's worth the drive)

7.Pizza King or Arni's (Say what you want but IMHO there is nothing else like it; Kinda like the White Castle of pizza... Once you try it you crave it!)

6.Joe Huber's...(Yep, I said it! They do what they do rather well... Think Claudia Sander's without the salmonella or staph infection)

5.Wall St. Cafe...(Home of the Wallburger and a tasty breakfast...But like I said, service is spotty at best, even if you are a regular)

4.Clarksville Seafood...( I really don't understand how a place that is only open 36 hours a week has been in business for 40+ years...It's real, real good...Figure out the strange hours of operation and get there...Think Mike Linnings without the ambiance with gruff service)

3.The "Beer Curmudgeon's Place".... (enough said)

2. A place that I'll keep to myself...(I gotta have my secrets!)

And rounding out the Top Ten ...

1. La Rosita (On Market St. in New Albany...Enough has been said about this place already, but I've never, ever had a bad meal here and I've had plenty. If you like South of the Border food, there is no need for you to cross the Mighty Ohio.... definitely top o'the heap)

Great list, Dan! I'd pretty much agree with all of those. Keep an eye on New Albany, too ... there's been some rough patches, but I'm not giving up on it yet.

Also, in addition to La Rosita, don't overlook some of the other really nice Latino places cropping up all over the Sunny Side - Buenos Dias Cafe between Jeff and Sellersburg is a current fave, but also remember La Herradura and lots of other "real" taquerias floating around. And both branches of Puerto Vallarta (Floyds Knobs and Jeff) are pretty darn good for the more accessible style of "bilingual" real Mexican.

We recently discovered Studio Cafe in NA and so far have had great food and service. Lot of comfort foods, great burgers and some awesome nightly specials. We go to an auction in NA some Friday nights and a group of us go out to eat after, everyone has been happy at Studio.

Kanzai is as good as any Japanese restaurant on either side of the River. We also have a Bristol on the Sunny Side that has been consistenly good. Charlestown Pizza Company is my favorite pizza on either side of the restaurant.
I haven't been to Wall Street cafe, but I love the little hole in the wall!

No doubt, One of the best around. We were just in last Thursday for another great pizza and some fine Bells in a bottle. Missed Shawn again though. It is worth the drive, we're coming form out here in the sticks(spencer co.). If you havent been out there ,give it a shot.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.
