BBC and Heine Brothers Coffee tap coffee stout
Bluegrass Brewing Company and Heine Brothers' Coffee have collaborated again on a product blending the local brewpub's craft beer and the local coffee shop's fine coffee: an oatmeal stout brewed with a touch of fair-trade, organic coffee.
Their worlds will collide in a celebration dubbed "Up All Night" on Friday, Aug. 15, at BBC in St. Matthews, 3929 Shelbyville Road. Employees dressed in their pajamas will start serving breakfast for dinner, including fried eggs, country ham and biscuits with red-eye gravy, and coffee stout cheesecake.
Partiers will compete for T-shirts, coffee, gift cards, and more in carnival games such as cornhole, ring toss, and a Wheel of Fortune. One lucky celebrant will win a growler of BBC beer each month for a year.
Events get under way at 3 p.m.; acoustic musician Tamara Dearing will perform beginning at 7 p.m.
BBC has previously brewed two other stouts flavored with Heine Brothers' Coffee. Both were described as full-flavored, light-bodied and lightly carbonated. and sold out quickly. (Article and video on LouisvilleHotBytes.com.)
For the Up All Night celebration, Heine Brothers' Coffee Stout will be dispensed through a special tap - often called a "Guinness tap" - that forms foaming, cascading bubbles to produce a creamy head.
"It seems natural to start a series of monthly celebrations with Heine Brothers' Coffee Stout," says BBC owner Pat Hagan. "It's the fastest-selling seasonal brew we've ever made."
Heine Brothers' Coffee opened in 1994 and is the oldest locally-owned coffee shop in Louisville. Seven stores and a roastery employ more than 100 people. BBC opened in 1993. It has two restaurants employing about 80 people.
