Lunch on a Saturday - downtown

by Sherrie G » Wed Aug 13, 2008 2:45 pm

My husband and I will be in downtown Louisville this Saturday. We wanted to have lunch there, but we're not that familiar with what is down there. Also, I'm finding that many downtown restaurants don't open on Saturday until 5 pm.

We've eaten at Proof and Toast so I wanted something different. Other than the chains, anyone know a "local" place that serves lunch on Saturday that you can recommend? And any dishes in particular?

Thanks. Sherrie

Might I suggest J. Graham's Cafe, well known as the home of the Hot Brown? They are open 7am-3pm on Saturday.

Here is a link, go about halfway down. http://www.brownhotel.com/dining/index.html
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

If you're on Fourth between Broadway and Chestnut there's the BBC, Cunningham's or Safier. Safier is very causal, order at the counter type of place but they have good hummus.

3rd Avenue Cafe is a good one and Mr. Z's makes for a good breakfast spot!

Bistro 301 - formerly Deke's marketplace grill - 3o1 West Market - (502)584-8337

Casual, affordable, both indoor and outdoor seating - innovative.

If you happen down to main street in the vicinity of the science center and the slugger musuem, there is an Itailian place called Luigi's. I believe they are open until 3:00 PM.

Thanks, everyone. Great options that I either didn't know existed or forgot about. That's why I love this forum.

I agree with Bistro301 but also suggest Saffrons at 2nd/Market (next to subway). Pestos (Persian/Italian) at 5th/Chestnut is open as is the The Blue Nile (Ethiopian) next door. The Pub at 4SL is a good choice too.

I do love Saffron's, but unless things have changed, Saffron's only opens for dinner on Saturday.
