Of course, there is the ever-popular cobbler, which I like best homemade! Soupy's had cobbler that was quite good. Have you found good cobbler at a restaurant? I know Karem's has it and some BBQ places.
Then there are pies. Plehn's has a good blackberry pie. The caramel Dutch apple pie at the Pie Kitchen is great too. I just bought a red raspberry pie for $7 from Kroger, so I will see how that tastes. Anyone see any pies at the St. Matthew's Farmers Market- I haven't yet.
And then there are fried pies...one of my relatives makes plum fried pies each year at our family reunion....YUM! Know of any restaurant/bakery that sells them? I also enjoy getting apple dumplings from Hubers when my family goes up around Christmas.
An interesting and delicious fruit dessert is the honey tempura bananas at Simply Thai. They are served warm, and the crunchy batter complements the soft banana inside. Not too sweet either!
And there is dump cake, which is quite good although you use canned fruit for it!
Lastly, I like tarts with pudding and fruit. It is simple, but I like the taste of fruit and custard. I use vanilla when I make them, but chocolate would be good too, with strawberries. Similar to this is the cake and berries at Irish Rover....which is very good!
I am limiting myself to two desserts a week, in case you are wondering...
