Bad Open Table experience in New York this week

by Linda C » Fri Apr 13, 2007 5:23 pm

Had dinner scheduled at La Prima Donna Tuesday before theatre
http://www.laprimadonnany.com/home.htm
you'll see their website is running beautifully
I also got reservations at TAO, which requested a confirmation a day prior.

Ariived at Prima Donna, it had been closed at least 8 weeks (according to a chef I met) I had en email the day before from opentable reminding me of my reservation!

This is the first time I've ever had trouble with the system. We were lucky to find a reasonable restaurant near Times Square and finish before the show. I guess my lesson is to always call ahead. But they are also supposed to let you know about a place folding! Even if I'd called a day ahead to confirm, I probably couldn't have gotten another restaurant reservation in that type place near Times Square!
Just a head's up. btw....TAO was really fun and good food. Nice choice with teens in tow.

No system is 100%, but I wrote a note to them and they replied within 2 hours. Impressive . Here it is:

Hi Linda,

On behalf of OpenTable and the restaurant, please accept our deepest apologies. This is completely unacceptable, and we appreciate that you have taken the time to inform us of the situation.

This is a very rare occurrence, and we police this issue very closely. We are following up with the restaurant this week about your situation to ensure this does not happen to other OpenTable diners.

I sincerely hope that you will give us another chance. We are 100% committed to providing an outstanding customer experience. I am awarding you 500 OpenTable Dining Points as a small token of our appreciation for your patience and to thank you for using OpenTable.

Thank you for contacting OpenTable.

Sincerely,

Eric P.
