Lunch at Melillo's

by Rebecca Clark » Thu Aug 07, 2008 3:27 pm

I finally made it to Melillo's for lunch today (and they were opened!!). After a bit of a falter in receiving service (table next to us was seated after us and were waited on first), the entire experience morphed into what I thought it would be. I have been having an Eggplant Parmigiana craving and was deeply satisfied by the Melillo's creation. I cannot believe there are three large pieces of eggplant in this dish! It's HUGE! I loved the presentation of the leaning tower of Pisa! The bread served while we waited for our entrees was chewy ... just the way I like it. My friend and I decided to each bring home a doggy bag and splurge on dessert. She had the Coffee Gelato and I enjoyed the Tiramisu. Both were light, creamy and a great ending to a very enjoyable lunch. I am now completely stuffed to the gills and won't need any dinner! :) (Neither does my waistline!) I look forward to enjoying the leftovers tomorrow for lunch. The setting was very appropriate as my friend was telling me about her trip to Italy! The atmosphere almost made me think that I was there.

I'm sorry I didn't get to meet Michelle or her daughter (didn't get the message until after I came home), but Kellie (our server) was very personable, yet not intrusive. I truly enjoyed the experience and hope to visit again soon.
