Woody's?

by Dan Baumann » Tue Aug 05, 2008 9:20 pm

I drove by Woody's (the old Hoop's on Westport) this past Saturday and there was a sign on the front door (written on a cardboard box and then taped to the door) stating something to the effect of 'Closed for Maintenance - will reopen tomorrow). Well, still haven't seen any sign that the restaurant is reopening. Does anyone know what happened? I don't eat there often at this time of year, but it's a good place to go during football season! :D

I used to frequent the place under both names but haven't been by lately. Even after the upgrade from Hoop's to Woody's, it was still a redneck joint. And by stating that fact, I am sorry if I have offended any rednecks on the board. I will drive by in the next day or 2 to see what's going on over there.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

A friend of mine lives nearby and visited regularly - it's his understanding that it's closed for good.

I heard it was sold and will reopen once the back tax issue is settled.

I stopped in a few times over the course of the new ownership. I refused to go there when it was Hoops. I couldn't take the smoke. By the time it became Woody's and the smoking ban had passed, I went a few times. I stopped going because the staff seemed high and drunk all the time. The last two times I was there (I was there for about 20 minutes combined), it smelled like they had a gas leak in the kitchen.
