I love to read about children eating sushi, seaweed salad, etc. My 20 month old granddaughter loves calamari. Looks like we have foodies of the future in Louisville.

We actually took the little one to Turkey Joes and he slept the whole time! He's too little to eat at any of the restaurants yet..but I'm sure he will soon!

We have a 16 month old and have dined in many local places with no problem. Here are some of our favs:

Rocky's Italian Grill
Zen Garden
Bristol (any location)
J. Gumbo's
Mai's Thai (Mai loves babies)
Ditto's
Come Back Inn
August Moon
City Cafe
Bearno's

Post Mortem: Rockwall Bistro in Floyds Knobs, IN and Stratto's in Clarksville (both gone)

Hope that helps. Stay away from Applebee's. Nobody should have to eat like that.

We are the proud parents of a 19 month old - and we take him everywhere!

Our son loves:
Outside at O'Sheas - especially when people bring their dogs, and we allow him to play in the fountain
Irish Rover
Cafe LuLu's (he loves their child's pasta)
El Mundo's - some of the waitresses have stolen him and waited on other tables with him in tow; but it can get crowded
Palermo's - he was able to see his dinner cooking while we waited
Baxter Station - he loves watching the train
Clifton's Pizza - and with the loud music, no one can notice if he gets loud too!
Shalimar
Amerigo
Ray Parrella's

I have another suggestion to add. Graham's at the Brown. My 9 year old nephew loved it.

I'm the mommy of a 3 1/2 year old so I've had quite a bit of experience with this. I have the additional issue now of not only finding a restaurant that is ok to take a young child to, but also one that will accomodate a 3 year old palate. My daughter can be pretty adventurous but she's still a child and has her few food items that she likes.

I would say the stand out places that go out of their way for her that we've been to are
Melillo's (by far most accomodating and will specialize a menu for her)
Cafe Lou Lou (close second to Melillo's. Will also specialize for her)
Shah's Mongolian Grill (this is her favorite restaurant)
Yangkee Noodle
Ramsi's (great kids menu)
Federal Hill (they gave her a kids plate at no charge)
Stan's Fish (they have goldfish crackers while she waits)
Pink Door (lots of games to play)
Ray's Monkey House (not a whole lot to eat here, but they really cater to kids)

Other ones that have been good are
301 Bistro
Bristol
Shalimar
Palermo Viejo
Kayrouz Cafe
Meridian Cafe
North End (for bruch. at night they tend to be a bit too slow for her)
Rumor's
Mojito's
Jade Palace
Joe's OK Bayou
Ray Parella's
Come Back Inn

Your post me think of something we do with sushi. Image

The ones on the right are made with no seaweed. There's something about chewing seaweed, it must require a lot of molar action! This was the sushi chef's suggestion from Fuji Springhurst. She'll eat every piece and ask for more. (28 months old) I appreciate their creativity to please a young, regular patron.

One more...we took our 16 month old to Puerto Vallarta in New Albany tonight. He ate handfuls of rice and burrito stuffing. He fit right in as there were kids all around us. The staff were very accomodating of him. I'd recommend the Jeffersonville location, however, due to smoking in the New Albany spot.
