Once again - Cafe' Lou Lou ROCKS!

by Melissa Richards-Person » Sun Aug 03, 2008 5:17 pm

I say "once again" because I know that many before me have sung its praises....but we can't spend enough time raving about great experiences...and our visit to Cafe' Lou Lou was, start to finish! I especially wanted to post because I so sincerely appreciate the flexibility that the staff showed, when we might have been a bit of a "problem" group. Our reservation was for 8:45, and while 2 of us made it at that time, the other 3 of us were unavoidably delayed. We ended up finally being all together and seated 20 minutes before the kitchen closed. We did our part by ordering quickly, but our server (I think his name was either Seth or Sean) was also terrific about being patient, attentive, and helpful with suggestions and orders. I know it's not easy to get a big table just before closing, but if he was at all miffed, he sure didn't show it!

I still marvel at the portions Cafe Lou Lou can provide at the price they charge - a price that's more than fair in my opinion. It's been a while since I had one of their calzones (I think they were still in the old location) and when my 4 cheese calzone came out, I was frankly a bit stunned. That thing could have fed 3 of me. And, in a way, it did....I took about 2/3 of it home, and it became lunch for my DH one day, and dinner for me the following. It ranked really, really high on the "cheezy - creamy - savory" scale, and I loved every bite.

Having heard plenty about Marsha's Lemon Sunshine cake, I had to try it. We split one for the table - and wow...that was heaven on a plate. The absolutely right balance between tart and sweet, not overly one or the other, and topped off with a light sweet cream. I'm still drooling thinking about it, and it's been 4 days.

I have only one disappointment - the second location isn't on our end of town! Puh-leez....can you make location #3 somewhere on the other side of the Watterson?
