I just found this article in The New Orleans Menu Daily that I receive daily. Since so many from this area head to Destin any chance they get I thought you might like to know about this.
The third location of Commander's Palace (the second was in Las Vegas, and you know where the first one is) premieres Wednesday, July 9 in the Harbor Walk Village, an upscale development in Destin, Florida.
It's a logical place for the famous haute-Creole restaurant. New Orleanians have made Destin a favorite place to hang out on the beach and in the blue water for decades. And the swells of people who come down from Atlanta, Birmingham, and other major southeastern cities has transformed the once-sparse strands into a full-fledged resort capital.
Chef Danny Trace, who took over Cafe Adelaide's kitchen after the hurricane and made the place great, is heading up the culinary team at the Destin Commander's. Cousins Lally Brennan (John's daughter, Ralph's sister) and Ti Martin (Ella's daughter) own the restaurant, as they do Commander's and Cafe Adelaide.
They say that the menu will be a mix of Commander's Creole classics, some adventuresome inventions, and "Floribbean" cuisine. The latter is the buzzword throughout Florida these days, and I'll let you know what it means if I can figure it out. (Seems like Creole food with coconuts to me.)
The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner, and I assume that's seven days a week during the summer.
