You really, really do need to get over to Preferred Meats in Sellersburg and get some of their home-grown Indiana bacon RIGHT NOW. Or Broadbent's Kentucky country bacon, often available at Doll's ...

Niman Ranch is good, but I'm tellin ya, these locavore alternatives make Niman taste like, well, Boar's Head.

grease on the door handles of the car is always a nice touch

find a nice bunch of fresh hops, place them in a small plastic sandwich bag, and drop it somewhere where your smoking staff is likely to find it

I have laughed numerous times when the chef has desperately asked a server to bring him the "bacon stretcher" to the line. They don't want to look stupid: so, they ask everyone around where the heck the bacon stetcher is. It is a good laugh for the back of the house.

Two of my favorite pranks in college was to wipe liberal amounts of any type of grease on windshield wipers and put them back in place undisturbed. Or to pop the hubcaps, add about 10 marbles then replace the hubcaps. While you may not actually get to see the results, you most definitely will hear about it.

I've always enjoyed the plate stretcher variant of that one...

I'm pretty sure Marsha is using Broadbent's.

We've got a bunch of Preferred Meat's here at home, but I can't participate, dammit. I'm a judge!

if you want to make he whole kitchen suffer, take a saute pan and fill with cayenne pepper, and leave on a lit burner for as long as you can stand and then give it to the dishwasher, as soon as he sprays it....the whole kitchen is gassed!

I have always enjoyed leaving full beverages in places that will pour on heads as well, and as long as you don't let them out of your kitchen fake mice, spiders, snakes are always great to place in some one's path

i've been hiding fake spiders in the band aid box lately

and couldn't you HAUNT carly rae's, the ghost of clancy present

take one server and alter their uniform, when it goes out to be cleaned, shrink or stretch everything, shorten the strings of their aprons, etc

Looking forward to seeing you....By the way my latest issue of Cook's Illustrated gave Niman Ranch Bacon a"not recommended" rating saying it was "a fairly average piece of bacon"....

Yes, fake mice are handy things. We had one for several years at a place in Berkeley and it made the rounds, right up until the owner dredged it up out of the flour bin and had a near cardiac...oh, those were happy times....! I do like the Cayenne (that's a new one on me) and you are now the designated front runner in the free dinner thing. On a side note, one of our servers had a taste of batter fried towel last night, but, sadly, I already went home and missed it (guess I need to close more and open less)

I once witnessed the kitchen staff at a restaurant wrap another employee's entire car in saran wrap. Several layers think. It was pretty entertaining watching his reaction.

Thanks Mike....... One of our kitchen staff with all his wisdom tried this prank out today  ! oh.. my.. god.. that is the worst thing ever. Very .... very funny, thank goodness he did it before the dinner rush  (told him he could have waited for the end of the night), but I think that is the best prank so far. I would tell some of the ones I have planned but I don't want to spoil it for Dave
