Louisville should be proud of having a place like Corbett's at least I know I am. Mr Dean Is an example for young cooks like my self. Dean is been in the business for more than 20 years and he's done it with class and integrity and I'm sure that we are going to have Corbett's for 30 more years. Fernando

I hit Corbett's for my 4th visit on Thursday for lunch. It was excellent. I had the cracker-crusted chicken with mixed veggies. I took a gander at the set up in the basement as well, pretty unique dining in the basement. The basement dining area reminded me a little of a civil war era restaurant (although Corbetts decor is up to date) I visited in Gettysburg years ago. I'm headed back for a dinner in the basement soon. I don't know you Dean but you've done a masterful job with this entity in an area that was severly lacking in quality non-national restaurants. Ceviche, Westport village, Mojitos have added to this side of town but Corbetts might be the Westport rd/Springhurst/upper Brownsboro Rd. crown jewel.

Good God, if I posted everytime I heard a restaurant was closing, I would have burned every bridge I have ever made in this business. It is true that alot of businesses close all the time, but you have to think about a rumor before you give it more credibility and post it on a forum where almost every chef, restaurant owner and foodie in the Louisville area is a member.

Deano sank lots of money into this place, he will no doubt see a return on his investment in the long run, but profit margins being as tight as they are, it may take 3-5 years to make it past the original investment.(Pure speculation on my part)

If you have ever dined at Equus, Jack's, or Corbett's, you know immediately that Deano does everything the right way, takes no short cuts, and attracts the most talented staff in the area. He has the Midas touch in the restaurant business.

Since the original poster apparently came here only as a malevolent troll and has not chosen to come back and defend his post or name his sources, I am going to restrict his membership, at least until such time as he chooses to contact me privately.

Meanwhile, let's let this one die, folks. All our posts in support of Chef Deano and his excellent enterprises only have the effect of bouncing the original troll up to the top of the board. If necessary, I'll "lock" the thread, but I would rather depend on everyone's good graces than do that if possible.

Hearsay... I mean.... I posted what I though was reputable source of a place closing when I heard that Sala Thai was putting up the shutters....

I didn't have the full story but I didn't get thrown under the bus either...

But, for some one to call out the likes of Chef Dean for whom I have the upmost respect for(as a former employee and student of all things Deano) is really uncalled for....

If there was a problem at Corbett's, Equus or Jack's.. I' m pretty sure I would know about it through my channels...

For some one to casually start spreading Hearsay is rude and callus....

Dan, the big difference was that you got your information from an employee of the restaurant, and you gave us your source.

Now, as I said in the previous post, let's let this one die and fall quickly down the forum, folks! I'd rather show you all the respect of not having to "lock" the thread.

I honestly don't care if people post this type of stuff. This person posed it as a question so I had no problem. I will do what wisdom dictates by hearing everything and believing nothing. I check with the restaurant and that is that. If anything it sticks the restaurant in my brain causing me to go there. I can remember spreading what was deemed rumor about 10 months ago that Sala was going to close and it has come to fruition. I heard the info that it was closing within a year of when I heard it, and it did, but I was prompted to share the rumor because someone said it looked closed down way before I heard it was going to so I shared but only said it was rumor and to be prepared for it to be a possibility for the unusual closing. At the time of course it turned out to be what was perceived as rumor.
