Brendan's Brunch

by Jess T » Wed Jul 30, 2008 4:08 pm

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the brunch at Brendan's. The brunch menu has many typical brunch items with a few exceptions. The brunch started off with a complimentary platter of assorted mini doughnuts. I had the biscuits and gravy with the cheese grits. The biscuits were great. The gravy was ok. I'm a harsh critic of white gravy because of my Eastern Kentucky roots. However, the cheese grits were OUT OF THIS WORLD. Some of the best I've had in the city. My date had the waffle with a version of their "Lil Jimmy" sandwich on top. It was their famous beer battered chicken tenders, pepperjack cheese, two fried eggs, and topped with syrup. He loved both the waffle and the cheese grits.

The best part about the brunch is the fantastic price. Most dishes are $7.99, which includes a side dish. The portions are HUGE (in a good way).

Wild Eggs and North End are our go to brunch spots, but we have added Brendan's into the circulation as well.

My wife is one of the brunch cooks at Brendan's. I'll pass along the good word.
