Welcome to the Louisville Restaurants Forum, a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.
Here's another sad story of the state of the economy...Let's hope that it doesn't come to fruition...pardon the pun...Back in the day I worked for two summers in the Maui Land and Pineapple Cannery...Man, talk about a tough job...I would carefully place pineapple (well, make that thousands of pineapple during my shift) into a Ginaca machine...An amazing machine that peeled and cored the pineapple in an automated fashion...Well, the buzzing sound of those Ginaca machines in Hawaii have been silenced as cannery operations have been shut down, and now it looks like the Fresh Hawaiian Pineapple industry could be next...I just can't imagine not being able to taste a pineapple grown in Hawaii...
I just saw a program on the Travel Channel that said pineapples haven't been exported from Hawaii for about 10 years. They are grown only for local consumption and for tourists who want to see a pineapple plantation.

Humans arent native to North America, South America, Europe, Asia or Australia but that doesnt mean in wouldnt be a big deal if they got wiped out from one of those continents.
Ditto for Hawaii, for that matter.
Now, snakes in Hawaii, on the other hand, probably wouldnt be a big deal.
