Lasagna / Lasagne

Who makes the best lasagna in town? And who makes the best inexpensive lasagna in town (say, less than $12)?

So far the best I have had are Le Gallo Rosso and Puccini's. I also enjoy Cafe Lou Lou's when they have it! I also like Bearno's, but it has been awhile (still love their pizzas!) I recall liking Clifton's in the past, but I ate there tonight, and it was not nearly as flavorful and, I am not exaggerating, more than half of it was cheese!!! I actually began to wonder if they'd left the pasta out by mistake...

Martini Italian Bistro, in The Summit, is one of our new independents and they have excellent lasagna. It's $13.95 but is large enough to have 2 meals out of. At $7.00 a meal that is a great deal.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think Martini's is part of a franchise. Not to detract from it's qaulity, of course. I think the Cameron Mitchell tag is a good one.

Right. Ed may be confusing Martini's with Mitchell's Fish Market, which was recently sold by Cameron Mitchell (although I can't recall if the buyer was local, but I think so).

Well......your right, Jackie. They are part of a 2 restaurant group that is still negotiating their independence from Cameron Mitchell's group. They have always had great food and service and I've never considered them a "chain" in the classic sense of the word. :D The original is in Columbus, Ohio.

I tried posting this once and it didn't seem to work-- so if you see this twice, ignore it!?!?!? The best lasagne that I have ever put in my mouth is from "e Delizie Italian" in LaGrange. It is a very small Italian deli with only a couple of tables but a large carry out business. Both the traditional lasagne with ricotta and the bol----(?) with bechamel sauce are to die for--literally melt in your mouth. They freeze very well--I keep them for emergency cravings!!! Also, the forum's own Andrea E. makes the authentic ricotta cheesecake which I cannot wait to try!!! It is definitely worth a trip out 71/42 to enjoy these wonderful goodies.

I love pasta, but lasagna isn't my favorite dish. However, Mellilo's lasagna is amazing.

Thanks for the clarification, Ed. I didn't realize Martini's was part of that deal, as well.

I'd like to nominate Corner Cafe's 'petite' lasagna at $13.95...

Also good for 2 meals, although I always seem to dust it off as a late night snack. Lasagna, it seems, is one of those foods that is just as good cold as warm!
