Even as the economy has turned, gas prices are high, and being in somewhat of a "destination" spot rather than a restaurant row, they continue to maintain extremely high standards of food, cleanliness, plate presentation, ambiance and a very friendly price point.

DH watched a show on Discovery or History channel talking about the uber rich and this economy. The program indicated that that market segment is prospering as never before, so maybe the highest end restaurant in town would continue to propser. After all, those folks probably don't want to have to dine with rif-raf like me

Interesting question, though.

Even their lunch sandwich plate gives me enough for two meals! Now that is what I call stretching your money!!!!

I probably shouldn't even admit this, but chain or no chain, I actually like White Castle and tend to crave a bag-o-sliders if I haven't had one for a while ...

You should try the Chicken Italiano! That and the jalapeno cheese slider are my favorites

OMG! I just tried one recently - and how about that intense garlic flavor!?!?! Jalapeno burger was a great newcomer, but put your hands together for... "the Chicken Italiano"! It's hard for me to remark on junk food with such enthusiasm, but this one is deserving.

white castle gets my vote as well
but pizza places like mine run a close second (the wicks, cliftons, nabc's, of the world)

and they are the cleanest fast food chain that i've visited

inspired by this train of thought

"Restaurant Death Matches"

White Castle vs Krystal
Taco Bell vs Taco Bueno (Tico, Johns)
Ronnie McD vs The King
Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza. D Barry

A very interesting and thought provoking question....

In my world, no one REALLY knows how to cook a quick, simple, nutritious and tasty meal any more....

But then again; I don't feed the masses...

I feed the Member's....

Good one!...
No, I feed the members of the private club I'm employed at.
After many years of slugging it out in restaurant and hotel kitchens, I enjoy my current position very much and find it quite challenging!

I won't go out without a fight....
Just toss me a coin or two if you drive by and see me with a crayon colored sign selling slices of Possum Pie from a fold up table in my front yard....

hahaha
If you keep looking back, you will miss what's ahead....
