You're welcome, Carla. I'm happy to promote Louisville any chance I get.

As for the Mall St. Matthews, it was apparently the first mall in all of Kentucky, but being the first enclosed mall in the country is a new one on me. Of course, I'm too young to remember when it opened (I wasn't even born yet).

Re: Mid-City Mall, it's actually a nice little neighborhood mall these days. Ever since the Baxter Avenue Theatres came in, it has seemed to improve ever since.

I was going to mention that, but then we would have a civil war on the forum just like on the old one. Personally, I believe the Ville to be a Southern city. It does have some tinges of the North and Midwest, but overall, it's Southern.

Here's one entertaining, off-topic way to evaulate southern or northern. I scored 63% dixie.

The first enclosed Mall was called Southdale in Edina, Minnesota in 1956.

It's worth noting, though, that Baxter management scrupulously segregates the theater from the mall, with a separate entrance and no inside connections at all. In my opinion, the best way Baxter could have helped turn the Mall around would have been to make the main entrance inside the mall, directing all movie traffic through the mall and past its stores. But it appears there was a conscious decision not to do that.

Does this add something to Ron's identical observation posted in this thread three days ago?

Perhaps. But certainly a lot of people park on the front side of the mall, and walk through its corridors to get to the cinema. Cinemas these days tend to be detached entities anyway. I can understand why the developer didn't want the theater to feel like a mall store. It's the aesthetics thing.

Fun test. Same identical score here. I'm a little surprised I scored that high. Or low, depending on your perspective.

63% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score!

63% Southern is still 37% non-Southern. :)

I was 73% Southern. I really thought I'd be higher!

And Louisville is still Southern.

Louisville was Unionist. It is industrial. UofL was in the Midwest Conference. There are as many Midwestern sounding talkers as Southern ones.

There is indeed room for differing opinions here.
