Two things.

First, I went there for lunch yesterday and I had the beef kebob on a friend's recommendation. I would say that it was good but not great. The beef itself had very little seasoning but was very tender. The rice was also good but not great. The one thing about the rice was that it was plentiful. They definitely go overboard on that. All in all, I will go back to try something else before writing the place off and going with Saffron.

Second, I find the original subject of this post to be many things. Words that come to mind are immature, silly, and maybe even a little ignorant. However, homophobic is going overboard. The last I checked, the term gay is a descriptive term and even in this context, not a pejorative term. If the author really wanted to make a homophobic statement, I believe there are a lot of other terms he could have used to get that point across. Nevertheless, this is off the subject and don't want to derail the thread. I was a bit surprised when I read the subject of the post, but would definitely stop short of labeling someone homophobic because of that.

And to try and give the thread originator the benefit of the doubt a bit - his last name (unless it's an alias) includes the word in question! It could be something he types MULTIPLE times a day and they 2 keys in question are VERY close to each other. I had NO idea that people frequently called it that......

I, too, find little humor in this "typo" with it's not so subtle homophobia, and it is homophobic because it implies an us/them situation. In my opinion this backwards looking "humor" has no place in this forum.
I was going to post something yesterday but thought I would give the original poster time to edit before I responded.

Just for the record, he spells his name: Majid.

You do realize that the "Gays Coffee" nickname was created by the rather large crowd of gay regulars themselves right? I mean, I'm all for getting rid of homophobia, I'm pro-gay rights etc...but let's not get all over PC here...last time I checked, gay wasn't a derogatory term. Gay people DO have a sense of humor, you know.

I echo this, I could understand if the thread called it something like Fa***t's Coffee but they didnt.
I am the original Mike G, never mind the impostor.

I am kind of a big deal.

I'm excited to try the place, but I'm even more excited to see what they managed to do with my old space. That place needed so much work! And from what I have seen just driving past, it looks as though they really did a beautiful job in there. I hope I get a chance to eat there very soon.

I have to admit this thread has reminded me of this classic beer commerical...

Hi,
I can't see where anyone has mentioned the name of the place. I tried Googling on Caspian and just get Caspian Grille which closed and was elsewhere. Anybody know what it is called?

From the draft pages for the coming issue of Food & Dining:

Caspian Grill Persian Bistro 1416 Bardstown Rd., 365-3900.

The similarity of names makes me wonder if it might be the same folks in a new location.
