A Plug for the Pastry Chef

by lindabenz » Sun Jun 29, 2008 9:29 am

Spouse and I celebrated our anniversary last night at The Oakroom. Service and food were outstanding, but I must commend Ethan Ray, the pastry chef. Husband adored the Chocolate Sesame cake. I loved my Raspberry Rhubarb Pie souffle, but I was lusting after a piece of that cake.

Thank you so very much.

I'm incredibly glad you both enjoyed your evening, and I do hope you did at least get a bite of the cake!
The sesame cake can sometimes be a tough sell on paper; the wasabi ice cream can be a put off for some people, but as you both hopefully discovered - it's not all that spicy!
The chocolate-plum wine sauce that i "Jackson Pollack" all over the plate really is there to balance the dish out.

PS. that was actually a strawberry-rhubarb pie souffle - rhubarb souffle, strawberry jam on the bottom, and a pie crust crumble on top.

On behalf of the entire staff of the Oakroom: we truly cherish that you chose to celebrate such a most special occasion with us.
Ethan Ray

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.
