Forumite Will Crawford gets the well-deserved props from the CJ this week as Marty offers Westport General Store a three star rating and a warmly positive review so positive that the rating seems just a bit on the stingy side. This should send a stream of eager diners out that short drive east to Westport for dinner. (And anyone who goes tonight will get the extra pleasure of a Whistlin Rufus concert.)

Looks like there is a mistake in the CJ on their hours, I thought it was odd they were not open on Saturday. Their website verifies that they are open Fri and Sat from 5pm to 10pm. This will not help them tomorrow night, ppl will think they are closed.


As printed on CJ website(not sure what paper says):
Hours: Tuesday-Thursday, 5-9 p.m.; Friday 5-9 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Good catch on the hours. They did indeed misprint them

I think me and my family might come check you out this afternoon Will. Never been but we have to go downtown and might head out that way, looks like a nice day for a drive. Is your lunch menu different? Don't see one on the website.

I took my mom and my out of town family to the Westport General Store tonight. Everyone absolutely loved it and Mitch was an excellent waiter. My nephew had a hot dog and fresh veggies, mom had the Roasted Chicken breast with broccoli and collard greens, my brother had the Chicken Breast Saltimbocca with grits and collared greens and I had the Bison Rib-eye with blue cheese cole slaw and grits. Everyone agreed the food was wonderful. We arrived there after 7:30 and the place was still getting pounded. Mitch told us that since the review in the Scene, it has been that way all week. My family enjoyed the trip down and really liked the view of Indiana across the river. So, thanks to all the folks at Westport General Store who helped us to have a very nice dining experience this evening.

BTW, Marty should've given them 3 1/2 stars. Mitch even brought over the review so my mom and brother could read it. Everyone agreed the review read as a 3 1/2 star review.

Thanks for the nice words. I was out of town Thursday and missed you. We have had a nice steady steam of customers and I hope it continues through the year!. Lots of fresh stuff coming out of the garden now. Cabbage, broccoli, squash, and green tomatoes. Next time you are out I hope to meet you.

Will, I have been visiting your restaurant for over 3 years now. Maybe one of these days I'll get to meet you. I'm glad I was able to bring some of my family down into the valley for a great meal. See ya soon.
