Bombay Grill

by Amy Smalley » Fri Jun 27, 2008 9:58 pm

My family and I tried Bombay Grill in the Forum Shops on Hurstbourne tonight. We were all very impressed. The service was fast and very good. The food was wonderful. Apparently they specialize in Southern Indian as opposed to Northern Indian so we were all excited to try some new dishes. We were all very pleased. I had a dosai, which is basically a huge crepe made with rice flour with potato and onion filling. I had heard about these but never been able to try one. It was humongous! We also had a very good cauliflower dish that was the special. That was actually my favorite and a great choice for vegetarians. It was not very crowded so I hope others will give it a try so it can stick around for awhile!

I, too, like Bombay Grill. I drive past it at various times 2-3 times most days, and it seems there are never many cars parked there. I worry about them. Foodies, please give them a try.

Just back from Bombay Grill for lunch. What a nice surprise! It's a very quiet little storefront - until you open the door and the blast of curry hits you! The lunch buffet (about $8.00) had a nice diversity of dishes, including the standards of curried chicken and chicken marsala. They had a nice curried lamb dish, two soups, plenty of vegetables and desserts (including what looked like doughnuts - good thing I don't eat sweets). The folks staffing the restaurant are extremely polite and attentive. I don't know if this is standard, but they brought over to my table the wonderful dosai that Amy discussed above.

This is one of those places we need to remember is there - it's out of sight unless you really try to look for it, and it would be a shame if it didn't make it (a total of three of us and one carry-out from 1:00 to 1:40 or so today).

I have been looking for this place, somewhat casually. Where, EXACTLY, is it?

Is that the Shopping center where Cherry House/Tony Roma's is? That's very close to home...

I have some out of town family here this week and am going to suggest this place to them for dinner tonight. It's on Hurstbourne just north of Shelbyville Road.

WOW, wow, wow, wow. All I can say is thank you so much mom for taking me and my brother to Bombay Grill tonight. And thank you Bombay Grill for the exquisite dining experience we had this evening. Mom and I had the Non Veg Thali and my brother dined on the Hyderabadi Biriyani with goat. Not only was the amount of food incredible (we took home 4 boxes) but the taste and preparation was off the hook. I am definitely checking out this place again. If you like Indian food and haven't been to Bombay Grill, go soon. You will not regret doing so.

Once you eat there and taste the food and stare in amazement at the huge portions, you will be going "Oh my!" all night long. I promise.

I've got to try this place out. We did run into Shalimar the other night and I firmly believe with all the competition, they've really stepped up their game there. It was the best meal I've ever had at that restaurant. Which tells me I need to get out and try the others.

We dropped by for lunch last week and were impressed by the buffet, a mix of North and South India with a lot of vegetarian choices. Like DakShin, they bring out masala dosa to everyone dining on the buffet.
