I have been to one that did a beer dinner, but I cant remember where it was. I have also read about them all over the world. I feel that beer pairing are under used.

Definitely. The reason why this is relevant is that the Seviche dinner will be pairing specific cuisine with wines that are from elsewhere.

The example I always use to make the point is Maido. Jim has numerous beer profiles that wouldn't ordinarily be seen at a Japanese restaurant (the usual suspects are plain golden lagers). Same goes for most Mexican. You don't see hoppy pale ales, german hefe Weizens or Belgian ales at these ethnic establishments, yet the pairings can be quite good.

According to Wikipedia, 17 of the top 20 beer drinking nations per capita are in Europe. Brazil comes in circa 35. Looking like a growth market to me.

A Tecate stand on every corner, I say.

Love a cold Pacifico on a hot summer day. Hits me just right.

Volume aside (it isn't always about size, you know) In terms of beer styles, South America is under-represented, although craft breweries are beginning to pop up, i.e., Brazil's excellent Eisnbahn.

Having a beer & food pairing with only golden lagers would be like having a wine & food pairing with only white zinfandel.

puerto rico and beer. so limited. medalla and medalla light. yuck. but they are proud of it. also, it typically comes in 10 oz cans. the wife and i had a few and decided rum (however the locals recommended) was a better option. they did have a brewpub in old san juan, but it was more like a nightclub with beer. the offerings were mediocre at best. the food on the island was good though. but you definitely get what you pay for. sorry for the tourism plug on this, it got away from me. anyways, puerto rico and beer makes me think of medalla light in a 10 oz can. too bad.

Kudos to Anthony Lamas and crew for the incredible food and hospitality at last nights dinner! We'll be back. I highly encourage everyone to make it out to the dinner in August as Peru will be the highlighted country and the menu looks fabulous. Thanks also to Gary F for the excellent service, it was great to see you. 3rd week in August has been circled!
