"Mad Indian Hot"

by Leah S » Fri Jun 27, 2008 2:28 pm

We eat a lot of Indian food, and recently we have been eating often at Sitar. While DD likes her food mild, and DH likes his medium I like mine crazy hot. American hot is barely mild to me. Most of the Indian places in town will not give you Indian hot even if you ask for it. They think Americans either can't take it or don't really understand how hot that is. Even Sitar's Indian hot wasn't hot enough. So last night I asked for "Mad Indian Hot."

It was hot. And goooood.

Oh, Leah ... you reminded me of when we asked for "Thai Hot" at Thai Cafe. They asked us over and over and over if we were sure and we convinced them we were. The endorphin rush from that heat was incredible ... it was delicious and it was burning hot. We were laughing and crying at the same time because of the affect the heat was having on us. Hats off to you for being able to hold your "heat"! :)

Unfortunately the older I get...the less I seem to be able to tolerate alot of "heat" in my food. Doesn't it reach a point where heat covers all the flavor? Then add in the price you pay later......

I love the thought of eatting "Mad Indian Hot"....I'm not ready for an MI just yet.

I've finally gotten Shalimar to believe me when I say hot, I mean hot.

I went to the Indian place years ago that used to be where Cafe 360 is now on Bardstown Rd. with a friend who likes "Indian hot." I ordered a vindaloo "Indian hot," got 2 or 3 bites in before it hit, and think I almost lost consciousness. I remember putting shingles on a roof in 95 degree heat with my Dad when I was younger - the sweat I experienced with that vindaloo was roofing x 100.

It hurt.

I used to love one of the dishes at Kim's when they were on East Market. I can't remember the name of it - noodles and veg swimming in a broth. It was so hot other people's eyes were watering at the table. I had those leftovers for breakfast the next day. mmmmm

Speaking of "Mad Indian Hot" one should try (if they dare) Cluck-U Chicken's 911 wing sauce...

Cluck-U Chicken (aka "Cluck") is probably most famous for their "wingers" as well as their wing sauces, which come in various different varieties: including "Honey Hickory"; and the infamous Thermometer scale of "Mild"; "Atomic"; "Nuclear"; "Traditional death";"Thermo-Nuclear" ("Thermo"); " and "911" which has been banned from most restaurants in New Jersey....At some locations where the "911" sauce is served, customers must sign a liability waiver before consuming...

Now that's gotta be some kind of HOT!!!...
