I would guess that means they're moving from their old place? Just guessing, but it seems mighty close for them to have two.

Actually, when we went by their old place last week it was closed and we wondered what was going on. I guess that explains it! The old building has been for sale for awhile and it is actually quite a rundown these days. Moving to the DaVinci site will certainly be an upgrade from the building they were in.

Isn't there an El Nopal every two miles? I guess we can't have enough Mexican places in this town...

Personally, I'd prefer a few more Los Aztecas, but with one about a half-mile from my home (J-town location), I can't complain. :D

Someone I was talking to was saying that Ernesto's is to mexican restaurants in Louisville what Grisanti's was for italian. Almost every place that has opened in Louisville has an Ernesto's connection. She also said that if you order a #10 combination dinner in the majority of places it will always be the same thing.

You can't sling a cat without hitting a Mexican joint in this town...that's for sure. But they all seem to do a good business. We have always enjoyed Enesto's.

I wish there was a Mexican place closer to my work downtown. I work on 4th, across from Cunninghams and the closest one I think is at 6th and Main. My team only eats lunch out one day a week for a meeting and by the time we got to the one on Main our lunch would be half over. Won't someone please, please open a Mexican eatery closer to Broadway?

Ernesto's does carnitas just they way I like them, extra crispy and tasty. Their salsa verde is great too. A plate of those and a Dos Equis to wash it down makes for a nice afternoon.

Agreed. I don't have alot of experience with carnitas, but I got to taste a bite of my friend's at Ernesto's recently. It was his hands-down favorite dish of their's, and I can see why. One question though: do they use sumac as a grilling spice? And if so, nice! But is that common South of the Border?

From what I understand, they are set to open the new store on the 16th at Stonefield Square.
