Taco Bueno??

by David Clancy » Sat Jun 14, 2008 11:43 pm

I recalled a "Taco Bueno" post a few weeks back, and, while driving to and from a graduation in Las Vegas this week, I stopped into one in Oklahoma City, and (just to make sure it wasn't a fluke), one in Amarillo Texas as well to give them a try. I must say that both times the food was absolutely wretched. the salsa, meat and everything else I tried was bland and tastless and the rice and beans had a familiar re-cycled look and flavor and must have been at least a day old. It pains me to say it but Taco Hell is better and the only thing worse on my 4 day junket was the breakfast buffet I had at The Orleans Casino in Vegas..... (isn't there a taco bueno here or one on the way?). JMHO

There's one in Jeff, a new one that caused quite a stir when it arrived. I reviewed it a few weeks back (¿Taco? ¡Bueno!)and thought it was okay ... better than Taco Bell to me, but certainly not worth driving past La Rosita to get there!

I got back in town today from a 10 day driving trip to San Antonio. I passed many many many Taco Beuno and Taco Cabana along the way.

I also had one of the best Mexican meals I can remember, at La Margaritas at Market Square in San Antonio. Cabrito Fajitas !!!! MMMMMMMMM

Ironically, my kids made me stop at Taco Bueno this evening coming back home from visiting my parents. Bueno is not a word I would use to describe the experience.... I think repelente might be the word I am looking for... or to be a bit kinder insípido
