Special Wine Dinner at Seviche

by Gayle DeM » Fri Jun 13, 2008 5:41 pm

A friend and I went to the special wine dinner at Seviche this past Wednesday evening, featuring the culinary traditions Brazil paired with the wines of Spain. It was totally delightful. Great food, good company, excellent wines. Who could ask for more? Thanks for the heads-up, Deb. Thank you for making our reservations, Gary.

The first course featured a coconut milk/seafood soup. Melanie, one of the excellent wait staff, said it could be ordered at any time given 24-hour notice. Boy, will I be doing that one! The soup was loaded with clams, shrimp, calamari, and fish in a hot broth, both hot in temperature and in spiciness. Succeeding courses included skirt steak, linguiça and flan. I have put Brazil on the list of places that I definitely want to visit! Each course was paired with wines. I was especially partial to the Ercavio that was served during the opening reception.

The exciting news was that this is the first of twnety-seven wine dinners that chef Anthony has planned, each to feature a different Latino culture. The next dinner will focus on Puerto Rico. I plan to be at each!
