i dont know how things work on this board.....but i wanted to introduce myself.....my name is Becky, i am from Southern Indiana......i am a transplant though.....not originally from this area.....i'm a Latina from wayyyyyyy down in South Texas........i have known about the Louisville Hotbytes website for a long time, and love coming to read about restaurants.......but i just found out about the forum......and whoa do i love it......i LOVE to cook.....(and eat) :? .....those kind of go hand in hand huh? ............i like to make huge meals for my family.....which consists of my husband....my two daughters.....a baby boy.....and another one on the way....(we find out soon what it will be.... :D ) ....and my mother who is now living with us, until she finds a place here....... she just moved up here from South Texas.....

we went to the Gordita place tonight......WOW!!!!!....that was soooo good.......my husband and i ate, and my mother as well....all for under $35 bucks....and that is including all the food we bought to go as well......it is a bit out of the way for us but really worth it......

Nice to "meet" you, Becky! You should also try La Rosita in New Albany for some yummy Mexican food. I grew up in Texas also... Houston area... although I don't really miss much, other than the Mexican food! :D

Welcome Becky! We'd love to know what you think about our local Latin restaurants. (Or any restaurant for that matter! :D )
The nod from you for the gordita place is quite the recommendation given your background.

Hi Becky.........A BIG WELCOME to our Foodie Forum Family! Congrats on your new addition as well.

I'd second the recommendation for La Rosita and add La Herradura on Eastern Blvd. La Herradura's staff most often doesn't speak English and their bilingual menu board has disappeared but wow what food.....makes me have to learn more Spanish!

Looking forward to more forum posts from you in the future.

thanks for the welcomes......i have tried La Rosita in New Albany......it is sooooooooo good.......we have been there many times.....my husband had the pork chops, which have chipotle sauce on them, i wasnt a big fan of the sauce but he loved it......my husband really likes seafood and he has also had the "empapelados", which is tilapia in foil with seasonings, shrimp, bacon, mushrooms, onions, and other stuff i believe.....i am not a big seafood person but i tasted this and it was soooooo good......we have had the steak there, carne asada.......and the fajitas, which is actually the only thing i didnt like......the serving was very, very small and we had ordered the double order.......i guess it is because we had been to Chubasco's in Louisville.....and the fajitas there was AMAZING!!!!!!!.......actually all the food there was good...........but unfortunately the restaurant closed down......which was so upsetting for us......it was mine and my husbands little getaway for eachother..........
