New Seafood place in La Grange

by robert szappanos » Fri Jun 06, 2008 9:49 pm

A new Seafood place has opned up in La Grange. It is located on highway 146 where the once Mike Fish House then Louies with a Zeiglier frozen custard next store. It is called Son of a Sailor...Calabsh Style (FRIED) Seafood. The lot was 3/4ths full this evening. See how this one goes. It has been through 3 places in about 3 years.

Robert: Is it where the old Louisville Fish & Chili Parlor (think that's what is was called) was? That has always been sort of a blink and you'll miss it wide spot on that section of 146.
Speaking of Buckner & LaGrange; Cornerstone Cafe has some good blue plate specials the 3-4 times we have been in there. I can vouch for the meatloaf and chicken and dumplings. Have you tried Red Pepper on Main in LaGrange? And where exactly is the new italian deli? We plan on heading out to Art on the Green in LaGrange tomorrow and maybe I can track it down.

Son of a Sailor is not open yet, last night was their soft opening. They open to the public on Tuesday June 10. Hope it's good! It looks really cute inside.

Red Pepper...eh. You can do better. RUN, don't walk, to the new Italian deli (down the street past Karen's Book Barn, on the other side of the street). Delizie Italiane is fantastic. Everyone on this forum needs to try it out. They will also be set up at Arts on the Green. Don't forget the La Grange Farmers Market opens today! We have been a vendor at the market since it opened in 2005 and it is a wonderful place to gather and get produce. Please stop by and get some sweets or fresh baked bread from Q&A Sweet Treats if you are there!

I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention my fave Norma Jean's...every time I go it gets better and better. The steak chimichurri is to die for.

Hope to see you today, Ed!

Red Pepper Deli in LaGrange is my favorite lunch spot in the county. Joe and his staff do an outstanding job. He is opening a new location in Crestwood which will have later hours and take home food for dinner.

Has anybody been to "Son of a Sailor" yet? If so how was it? We moved here from the Carolinas and really miss having a good Calabash style restaurant.
