Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement Market Meals Cook-Off
http://www.louisvilleky.gov/Health/MHHM ... ookoff.htm

The Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement, Kentucky Proud, and Pennyrile Allied Community Services are sponsoring a series of events this summer at Louisville's neighborhood Farmers' Markets.

24 local chefs will compete across the city to create "Winning Market Meals," dishes created from fresh, local ingredients that can be easily recreated by cooks at home in approximately 30 minutes. They will be judged on originality, nutrition and overall taste, and how easily the recipe can be replicated by the average home cook.

The competition is part of an effort to promote healthy, home cooked meals and increased consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables grown locally.

Who are the chefs? And what can I do to get involved in a couple of these?

Fresh Produce and usually a couple of meat offerings to show patrons what they can do simply; Sounds like my cup of tea!

Dan,
I was wondering about the chefs as well but could not find a list on the site.

There are individual phone numbers for each Farmers Market at the locations link or perhaps try the Metro Help Line at 311.
The first Market Meals Cook-Off is today at the Bardstown Road Farmers Market from 8 AM until Noon.

Contact us: (Probably will not get an answer until Monday)

I was at the Farmer's Mkt on Saturday (for quite some time as I kept running into friends) but as far as I could tell the cook-off did not happen. It is possible I just missed them but I think it was a no-go and I have no clue why.
